project-indy-web-logoINDIANAPOLIS, IN (July 6, 2016) – Today, the Greater Indianapolis Progress Committee announced a partnership with IndyGo that has provided Project Indy’s summer jobs partners youth bus passes to use at their discretion during the summer months. More than 230 passes have been distributed to be used by young people in our community at no cost to them.

“Part of Mayor Hogsett’s vision for Project Indy is to provide increased resources and support for our community of summer job allies,” said GIPC executive director Beth White. “Being able to provide youth bus passes for our Project Indy partners is truly a natural extension of that call for collaboration and increased accessibility.”

Project Indy, Indianapolis’ first comprehensive youth jobs program, unites non-profit and corporate partners with youth job providers including TeenWorks, Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, Groundwork Indy and IndyParks to offer Indianapolis’ youth job training, internships, and employment opportunities through the summer months.

Through collaboration with the Greater Indianapolis Progress Committee as well as EmployIndy and area employment providers, the Hogsett administration identified more than 1,000 youth employment opportunities across the city of Indianapolis. Their efforts garnered national recognition with the city’s designation as a “Summer Impact Hub,” by the White House.

In the coming months, GIPC will work to secure additional community and business partners, identify additional resources and convene stakeholders to grow Project Indy in future years.
