INDIANAPOLIS (February 13, 2015) -The Greater Indianapolis Progress Committee invites the Indianapolis community to provide feedback on the Plan 2020 Bicentennial Agenda: Building an Authentic City Life. The public comment period, for the working draft Bicentennial Agenda, will remain open until March 20, 2015.
The Plan 2020 team is encouraging citizens to view, download, and comment on the working draft, while considering the following questions: Do the recommendations introduced throughout the working draft represent what everyone should focus on for the next several years? Is it clear what is being said? Could it be said better?
Citizens can join the online conversation about the draft Agenda using the Plan 2020 MindMixer engagement platform at plan2020.com/plans/bicentennial. If preferred, readers can also send feedback to info@plan2020.com, with the section of the Agenda to which they are referring identified in the email. Those interested can view and share the associated 20-minute video presentation, which is also available at plan2020.com/plans/bicentennial/ and on public access Channel 16. Additionally, communities and organizations can request a group speaker to explain the Plan 2020 Bicentennial Plan planning process in more detail at plan2020.com/engagement/speaker/.
The Bicentennial Agenda serves as the compelling vision for Marion County as Indianapolis prepares for its bicentennial year in 2021. The Bicentennial Agenda is the first of five parts of the Bicentennial Plan. The Agenda is the values component and guiding inspiration for six technical city plans that are also being updated as part of the larger Plan 2020 Initiative. The Bicentennial Agenda’s recommendations aim to answer the questions, “What makes a city an attractive place to live?” and “What cements one’s quality of life?” “How can a city best allocate limited resources?” and “How can Indianapolis do the most good for the most people?”
The Bicentennial Agenda will guide any number of planning efforts and local initiatives, so it is important that the entire community is involved in its development. This spring, based on feedback obtained from the community, the Plan 2020 team will revise the Agenda to include additional data, rationale, information, and graphics.
The Plan 2020 Initiative is a collaboration between the Greater Indianapolis Progress Committee, the City of Indianapolis, the Indy Chamber, and community leaders to make Indianapolis a better place to live, work, and visit.
