Bus passes provided to participating Project Indy partners for distribution
INDIANAPOLIS, IN (June 7, 2017) – Today, Mayor Joe Hogsett and the Greater Indianapolis Progress Committee announced their continued partnership with IndyGo, in support of youth opportunities over the summer months. This year, IndyGo is providing more than 800 youth bus passes to Project Indy’s not-for-profit partners. These passes will be distributed by the organizations to participants in their programs, at no additional cost.
“Last summer, IndyGo was instrumental in providing needed support for local youth taking advantage of the summer employment opportunities,” said GIPC Executive Director Beth White. “We’re grateful for their willingness not only to provide that vital transportation support again but to donate several hundred more passes this year.”
Project Indy, Indianapolis’ first comprehensive youth jobs program, unites non-profit and corporate partners with youth job providers including TeenWorks, Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, Groundwork Indy, and IndyParks to offer Indianapolis’ youth job training, internships, and employment opportunities through the summer months.
Through collaboration with the Greater Indianapolis Progress Committee, the Marion County Commission on Youth, EmployIndy, and area employment providers, the Hogsett administration identified more than 2,000 youth employment opportunities across the city of Indianapolis this summer, doubling the opportunities from last summer.
