Mary Titsworth Chandler to step down after four and a half years in the leadership role

INDIANAPOLIS (July 5, 2022) – The Greater Indianapolis Progress Committee (GIPC) announced today that Mayor Joe Hogsett has appointed Heather Wilson, attorney with Frost Brown Todd, as the organization’s new Chairperson of the Board. Wilson has served GIPC since 2016, joining first as a member representative from Frost Brown Todd, and most recently on the Executive Committee.

“It is with pleasure that I announce Heather Wilson has accepted my invitation to lead GIPC as Chairperson of the Board. Heather’s work with equal employment opportunity and with the Indiana Civil Rights Commission will serve as a strong foundation for her leadership role with GIPC,” said Mayor Hogsett. “I look forward to working with Heather and GIPC’s new Executive Director, Emily Koschnick, in the months ahead to craft new and emerging priorities for the organization and our community.”

For almost six decades, GIPC has been a non-partisan forum for leaders from the public and private sector to convene and collaborate on issues of concern and areas of opportunity that affect the progress of the city. Since 1965, GIPC and its members have had a role in many major initiatives including the creation of UniGov, the desegregation of local schools, consensus building for Eskenazi Hospital, and laying the groundwork for the recently opened Community Justice Campus.

“I am honored that Mayor Hogsett requested that I lead the Greater Indianapolis Progress Committee,” said Heather Wilson, new GIPC Board Chairperson. “I want to thank Mary Chandler for her exceptional and thoughtful leadership for over four years. GIPC is in a very strong position, and I am excited to work with Emily and the Executive Committee to identify new opportunities to help make Indianapolis a stronger community.”

Heather Wilson served for several years as Member-in-Charge of Frost Brown Todd’s Indianapolis office, where she focuses on employment litigation and general business counseling. In 2019, Wilson was named one of Indianapolis Business Journal’s “Women of Influence” and has been selected for inclusion in “Indiana Super Lawyers” for multiple years since 2009 and most recently “Top 25: 2022 Women Indiana Super Lawyers.” She serves on several boards including the Indiana Chamber of Commerce, the Indiana Repertory Theatre, and the Indiana University Maurer School of Law Board of Visitors. Wilson earned her bachelor’s degree from Indiana University and her law degree from Indiana University Maurer School of Law. She is married to her husband Andrew, a paramedic/shift captain at Indianapolis EMS. They have a daughter, Mary, who is attending and playing basketball at the University of Denver.

Wilson succeeds Mary Titsworth Chandler, CEO of The Cummins Foundation and Vice President of Corporate Responsibility and Community Relations at Cummins Inc. Chandler has served as GIPC’s Board Chair since her appointment by Mayor Hogsett in December 2017.

“I want to thank Mary for her vision during a challenging period in our city’s history, particularly with GIPC’s Structural Reform Team’s report on police reform in the wake of a national movement for justice around race and policing,” said Mayor Hogsett. “The legacy of her leadership will continue long beyond her tenure.”
